Conservation Services
Works on paper are among the most vulnerable of all art objects — and among the most rewarding to conserve. We treat the full range of media on paper, from old master drawings to contemporary prints.
Works on Paper
Paper is a complex material — a network of cellulose fibres that responds to changes in humidity, temperature and light in ways that can cause irreversible damage over time. The media applied to it — ink, watercolour, pastel, gouache — each have their own vulnerabilities and their own requirements. Conservation of works on paper demands a thorough understanding of both the support and the media, and a treatment approach tailored to each individual work.
We treat works on paper of all periods and media. Every treatment begins with a full condition assessment, proceeds through a written proposal agreed with the collector, and concludes with a comprehensive conservation report and archival-quality housing.
