Made specifically for this auction, the triptych is Chandurkar's most ambitious work to date. The three panels are conceived as a single continuous surface — a landscape of memory in which fragments of text (drawn from letters, diaries and auction catalogues), layers of beeswax and passages of natural pigment accumulate to create a surface of extraordinary depth and complexity. The work is offered without reserve. It is the closing lot of the sale and the work that gave the auction its name — an act of memory in itself, made in the knowledge that it would pass from the maker's hands into the world.

Aishwarya Chandurkar
Aishwarya Chandurkar (b. 1994, Pune) studied at the Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya in Pune before completing a residency at the McCahon House Artist Residency in Auckland in 2024. Her practice centres on the relationship between memory, material and time — she works with paper, wax, natural pigments and found text to create works that are simultaneously intimate and monumental. Chandurkar was commissioned to make the closing work for The Memory Unfolds auction, and the triptych was made in the I'Arte Rinasce studio during the months of preparation for the sale. It is the work that gave the auction its name.
